Those sworn in included Pir Mazharul Haq, Zulfiqar Mirza, Shazia Mari, Nargis N D Khan, Sassui Palejo, Sajid Jokhyo, Agha Siraj Durrani, Akhtar Jadoon, Murad Ali Shah, Saifullah Dharejo, Nadir Magsi, Ayaz Soomro, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Ali Nawaz Shah, Jam Mehtab, Abdul Jalil Memon, Abdul Haq Bhurt, Manzoor Wasan, Tauqeer Fatima, Diyaram from Pakistan People's Party (PPP). Ameer Nawab joined the Sindh cabinet from Awami National Party (ANP).
Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan administered the oath after Friday prayers, at around 3:00 pm in the Governor House. Later, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, to lay a floral wreath accompanied by at least 20 cabinet members, visited Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum and offered "Fateha".
Akhtar Jadoon, who had his leg broken in the post-December 27 violence, was absent. Addressing media, Chief Minister said that the PPP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would hold negotiations in the next two to three days on the formation of government in Sindh.
He said that deadlock between the two parties had ended to some extent and two committees established earlier by the two sides would hold talks soon. He said in the "first phase" a 21-member cabinet had been sworn in and more oaths were likely to be taken in the "second phase" soon.
The CM said that PPP leadership wanted to have a consensus government in all provinces and would therefore take all parties of Sindh on board for betterment of the country. About April 9 violence in Karachi, he said that probe was going on, and the new cabinet was now there to decide if there was a need to expand the area of investigation.
He vowed that his team would utilise its all energies and resources to keep the mission of the party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and his daughter Benazir Bhutto.
