President Pervez Musharraf has condemned the act of hooliganism in Lahore in which senior politician and former Federal Minister Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi was assaulted and inhumanly treated.

The President while condemning the incident in the strongest possible terms, called upon the concerned authorities to carry out an immediate inquiry so that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the unfortunate incident of misbehaviour with former Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Sher Afgan. "This sort of misconduct is not acceptable in any civilised society", he added.

The Prime Minister directed the provincial government to enquire into the incident and apprehend the culprits who are attempting to disrupt peace and harmony. He also asked the concerned officials to ensure the welfare of Dr Sher Afghan and his family.
