All provincial assemblies sessions have been convened in the beginning of the month of April. Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has summoned the session of Punjab Assembly on April 9. It was stated by a spokesman of the Governor House here on Saturday evening.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has convened the session of Sindh Assembly on April 5 at 11 am for the purpose of oath-taking by 167 newly-elected MPAs. To be chaired by Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, the session will also elect the next Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Sindh Assembly Secretariat has made all arrangements for MPAs oath-taking ceremony.

During the session nomination papers for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be obtained from the office of Assembly Secretary on the same day or next day of opening session while the Speaker will specify the day and time for election.

After the election of new Speaker and Deputy Speaker and the administration of oath to them, the opening session will be prorogued. The second special session of the Assembly will be summoned by the Governor under Article 109 of the Constitution for the purpose to ascertain which one of the members of the Provincial Assembly commands the confidence of majority of the House.

Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfikar Ali Magsi on Saturday summoned the session of Balochistan Assembly on April 7. PPPP secretary information Manan Gohar told APP that a delegation of PPPP coalition partners consisting of Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani, Asim Kurd Gailo and Younas Mulazai called on the governor and asked him to convene the assembly session.

Provincial Law Department has received the date for convening session of the NWFP Assembly through a presidential order on Saturday under which the assembly will meet on April 2, at new Assembly building at 10 am for oath taking of the newly elected members of the House.

Senior MPA elect Arbab Ayub Jan of ANP would chair the inaugural session as the incumbent Speaker had resigned from the post while the post of Deputy Speaker is also vacant after removal of the Ikramullah Shahid through a no confidence motion in early 2007.
