Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has declared majority of the food products of 49 industrial units, as sub-standard. An official, who told on condition of anonymity, hardly saw any chance of action against these units saying notices giving 15-day time to comply with the standard have been issued to these units.

Another notice will be served after 15 days if they did not respond to the earlier notices before taking any further action, he added. He said that the list showing many substandard oil and ghee manufacturers brands, mineral water, cement, motorcycle and many more, was updated at the end of December covering the period from November 30, 2007.
