An Election Commission tribunal on Monday rejected two appeals challenging the acceptance of nomination papers of Pakistan People's Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto. The tribunal comprising Justice Nadeem Azhar Siddiqi and Justice Dr Rana Muhammad Shamim after hearing arguments from the counsel of both sides dismissed the appeals.

Defence counsel Farooq H Naik representing the former prime minister said Lahore High Court had already annulled the decisions in these cases. He said similarly after the promulgation of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in the country these cases were discarded.
