The Italian Consul General Domenico Benincasa inaugurated the event while a large number of diplomats from consulates general of the US, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Poland, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and others attend the event.
The 10-day event will depict the Italian classic and modern cuisine. An ambiance will be created to enhance the typical essence of Italy. "It will truly be a unique chance to try the true flavours of Italy", the Italian officials said and added that the highlights of the promotion are its menu, which has been created by the brilliant chef Rocco Iannone and his assistants, flown in from Italy just to enthrall the tastebuds of the Cozmo Patrons.
In 2006, the chef Rocco was named one of the best chefs under 30, in Italy and this year has been named chef of the year by Guida L' Esspresso as well as "Volto Nuovo della cucina Italiana", by Gambero Rosso. The Italian food promotion is being brought in collaboration with the Italian Consulate General in Karachi and sponsored by Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation as main sponsor and Pepsi as co-sponsor. The team of chefs are being flown in from Italy courtesy of airline sponsor Emirates Airline.
