Former international footballer Abdul Khaliq having appeared in the 1998 World Cup football qualifiers is among those who lost their life in the Karachi blasts. Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) president Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has condemned the Karachi bombs.

A product of Lyari Labour Welfare Centre (LLWC) Football Club, Khaliq joined KPT from Sindh Government Press in late 1980s. He was a speedy, utility striker who could adjust himself in any position. He played major role when KPT clinched the Fifth President PFF Cup at KMC Stadium 17 years ago. He was also pivotal wing of the team that finished runner-up in Quetta's 16th PFF President Cup 2003, thus keeping the status of A-Division in style.
