Law enforcement agencies have been asked to expeditiously conclude the investigations to apprehend the culprits involved in the recent suicide attacks and other despicable acts of terrorism.

A high level meeting presided over by Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Federal Minister for Interior reviewed the prevailing law and order situation in the country and asked the authorities concerned to take extra measures for averting any untoward situation.

According to a press release issued here on Monday, the officials concerned briefed the meeting on the progress of investigations into recent suicide attacks. The meeting also decided to act against the terrorists and extremists in a proactive, focused and dedicated manner.

Apart from terrorism, it also took in-depth stock of the general law and order situation in the country. Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao directed the functionaries concerned to devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with the menace of terrorism besides approving certain concrete steps in this connection.

The federal government would do all it can to assist the provincial governments in maintaining order and tranquillity, the minister said. The minister urged the intelligence and law enforcement agencies to be more proactive as reactive mode was not a solution to the problem. The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction over the progress. The meeting was attended by Interior secretary, DG FIA, all home secretaries, provincial police officers and other senior officers of the Ministry of Interior.
