Talks focused on "the unresolved Palestinian issue" as well as violence and political tensions in Iraq and Lebanon, he said before leaving Jordan for Syria ahead of a wrapping up a regional tour in the United Arab Emirates.
"At the same time there is the serious challenge in the shape of our common fight against terrorism and extremism," Musharraf said, reading from a prepared text, with Jordan's monarch at his side.
"There is an ever-increasing need for harmony within the Muslim world," he added. "I discussed in detail all these issues of great concern to us and the urgency for a new strong initiative to effectively address these issues."
"Together we need to play a role to avert the dangers facing us," said Musharraf, who reached Jordan on the third leg of a tour that has already taken him to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
"President Musharraf shares our sense of urgency that another opportunity not be missed to reach a lasting solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict," the king said.
The two leaders also discussed Afghanistan and "the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to tensions over Iran's nuclear capabilities", he added.
