President General Musharraf made a telephonic call to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday and informed him about his forthcoming visit to exchange views with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and Jordan.

According to a press release by Foreign Office on Friday, the President shared his deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, in particular in Palestine, and the need for fresh efforts to push for a just settlement of the Palestinian issue. The President also mentioned the urgency of bringing harmony within the Islamic Ummah.

President Ahmadinejad thanked the President for sharing his views and welcomed the President's initiative for addressing the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Middle East. The Iranian President supported the President's efforts. The two leaders agreed to keep in touch with each other.
