Answering a question he said it is the right time to resolve the Kashmir problem and the leadership of Pakistan and India should come up with positive attitude living up to the expectations of the Kashmiri people.

To another question, he said Pakistan and India have also other problems which need to be resolved but the Kashmir problem cannot be put on the back burner as it is vital for durable peace and security in the region.

AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad said President Pervez Musharraf is making sincere efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue and the Kashmiri people have full trust in his leadership.

He said the UN Secretary General in his recent statement has said that the Kashmir problem is still on the agenda which is quite encouraging for the Kashmiri people.

The AJK Prime Minister said the visit of Hurriyat leaders to Pakistan would go a long way in resolution of the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

BR LAHORE CORRESPONDENT ADDS: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Mirwaiz Omer Farooq, while supporting the proposals of President Pervez Musharraf for resolution of the outstanding Kashmir dispute, has said the visiting delegation of Kashmiri leaders would present Kashmiris' point of view vis-à-vis Pak-India composite dialogue.

Talking to newsmen on his arrival at the Lahore airport on Thursday, Mirwaiz called for including the Kashmiri leadership from occupied Srinagar and Muzaffarabad in the round of negotiations aimed at resolution of Kashmir problem. He said the time is ripe for discussing stand of the Kashmiri leadership living on both the sides of Line of Control (LoC). He said that objective of this visit of Hurriyat Conference was to include the Kashmiri leadership in the efforts aimed at resolving the Kashmir issue. However, he said, there was dire need to include the Kashmiri leadership in the efforts aimed to resolve the Kashmir problem. He said that governments of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir should make more concerted efforts to settle the long-standing issue.

Omer Farooq, who is touring Pakistan as leader of the delegation, said the APHC leaders have been making efforts to have meetings with the Indian leadership, prior to their visit. He said the APHC leadership wanted the Indian political parties' support for resolution of Kashmir issue. The Indian politicians, both in government and opposition, should help the APHC to ensure Kashmiris' participation in the process of composite dialogue, he said. The issue of Kashmir cannot be resolved until the Kashmiris are involved in negotiations. Both India and Pakistan should take Kashmiris into confidence before any progress on the issue, he added.

Mirwaiz said that he had differences with Ali Gillani because he was opponent of talks aimed at resolution of this outstanding problem. However, he said that those opposing negotiations, at present, would soon join the round of talks being held for the purpose.

To another question, Mirwaiz said, for the first time the Indian government has given positive indications about Kashmir issue, adding the Indian media too is urging his government to take the issue seriously.

Earlier, Mirwaiz Omer Farooq, who, accompanied by Abdul Ghani Butt and Bilal Lone, arrived here at the Lahore airport from New Delhi, was received by Punjab Minister for Communications Chaudhry Zaheeruddin. Later, the delegation of Kashmiri leaders left for Islamabad.
