Chairman of special committee of the Parliament on Kashmir, Hamid Nasir Chattha on Saturday condemned the Indian government for not letting the Kashmiris proceed to perform Haj. The Indian leadership's authoritarian and inhuman attitude had forced Kashmiris to take up arms and initiate their freedom struggle, he added.

In a media release issued here, he regretted that some Kashmiri Muslim leaders had been stopped from proceeding to Makkah for Haj, which is one of the five fundamental articles of Islam. The action showed that India had converted occupied Kashmir into Darul Harb.

In the past as well, India had been violating basic human rights and suppressing the religious freedom and it had again committed the same crime by stopping Kashmiri leaders including Mussarat Alam, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and others from performing Haj, the chairman said.

He observed that this drastic and despicable measure adopted by Indian leaders reflected their mentality and the policy they had decided on Kashmir and added that there was contradiction in the India's claims regarding Kashmiris and Kashmir issue.
