Leaders of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori, Rao Zafar Iqbal, Syed Khurshid Abbas Gardezi, Chief of Pakistan Democratic Party Nawabzada Mansoor Ahmed Khan have demanded for immediate removal of Federal Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi, who apparently does not know how many 'Siparas' are there in the Holy Quran.

In their statements they said that since Pakistan is an Islamic state but its Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi does not know about the Holy Quran and Sunnah. He is the man who was making the syllabus un-Islamic and westernising the education.

They said that on Wednesday responding to a question by a TV anchor of a private TV channel in its morning show, the education minister, who is also retired general and ex-chief of ISI, said that now a student would complete 40 'Siparey' of the Holy Quran from Class III to VIII in school and now the children would not need to go to 'Madressahs' for learning the Holy Quran. The anchor surprised over the minister's apparent ignorance, asked him how many Siparey would they learn, the minister replied 40 'Siparey'.

Astonished and surprised over the minister reply, when the lady anchor for the third time said she believed that there were 30 'Siparey' in the Holy Quran, then Javed Ashraf shaking his head apologised and corrected himself by saying, "Oh I am sorry".
