Girls students outshone their male counterparts by grabbing the top two positions in the Secondary School Certificate annual exam 2006 conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Multan on Thursday.

According to the overall results, Kanwal Noreen d/o Mian Haq Nawaz of Government Girls Comprehensive High School Multan (roll No 5726) got first position in the Board by obtaining record 982 marks in the pre-medical group.

Tajwar Khan d/o Farhat Abbas Khan of Nishat Girls High School Multan (roll No 30805) grabbed second. Two candidates Aaqib Iftikhar son of Rana Iftikhar of Government Model School Vehari (roll No 17717) and Rana Salman Qadeer son of Rana Abdul Daeer (roll No 25865) got third positions by obtaining 977 marks.

Chairman of BISE Multan said that total 96,198 candidates applied for SSC examination 2006 but only 93,722 appeared. Of them 53,865 candidates declared successful making 57.47 pass percentage.

Total 45,385 candidates appeared as regular students, of them 33,579 declared successful achieving the pass percentage of 73.98. Of them 27,028 appeared in Science group, 22,839 were declared pass and pass percentage was 84.50. Total 18,361 candidates appeared in General group, of them 10,740 declared successful making pass percentage of 58.49.

Total 48,333 private candidates appeared, of them 20,286 declared successful. In Science group 11,414 out of 22,873 were declared successful achieving the pass percentage of 49.9.

Total 8,872 out of 25,460 private students in General group were declared successful and pass percentage was 34.85. Among boys, two candidates Aaqib Iftikhar (roll No 17717) and Rana Salman Qadeer (roll No 25865) stood first by obtaining 977 marks. Muhammad Arsalan Muneer son of Munir Hussain Niazi (roll No 20856) got second position by securing 969 marks, while three candidates Afzal Baig (roll No 14074, Atique Rasheed of Qaboola (roll No 14077 and Muhammad Owais Zafar (roll No 39445 annexed third position by obtaining 966 marks.

AMONG GIRLS: Kanwal Noreen (roll No 5726) and Tajwar Khan (roll No 20805) got first and second position by obtaining 982 and 978 marks respectively. Two candidates Bisha Saeed (roll No 3550) and Zohran Khan (roll No 6289) got third position by securing 973 marks.

HUMANITIES GROUP: (Boys) Imran Hayat (roll No 85743) Muhammad Mughir Anwar (roll No 86448) and Abdul Majid (roll No 6476) annexed first, second and third position by obtaining 895, 862 and 834 marks respectively.
