The Indian government will transmit advanced information to Pakistan regarding river flows during flood season commencing from July 1, 2006. Agreement to this effect was signed between Pakistan and Indian delegations on Indus Basin Water Commission here on Sunday.

On the demand from Pakistan side asking India to send flood information not by telegram but by using modern information system, the Indian delegation agreed that the flood data and information would now flow from their side well in advance through telephone and other modern information systems.

The two-day talks between Pakistan's Indus Basin Water Commission and Indian Indus Basin Water Commission ended on Sunday. The seven-member Indian Indus Water Commission team was led by S E Gupta. From Pakistan side, Jaamat Ali Shah led his team.

During talks Pakistan raised objection on construction of 'Orri-2' 240 Megawatt power plant on river Jhelum in occupied Kashmir. Indian delegation agreed to supply data to Pakistan on the project. Indus Basin Water Commission agreed to hold a special session to discuss Indian power project on the occasion.

Indus Basin Water Commission meeting while approving the current year's sessions between the two countries would finalise the schedule of inspection tours of the Commissioners of Indus Basin Water Commission for the coming two years in its session on Monday.
