Defence Secretary Lieutenant-General Tariq Waseem Ghazi (Retd) led 13-member Pakistani delegation, while Indian side was headed by his counterpart Shekhar Dutt at the parleys.
Ahead of the talks, the defence secretaries of the two countries held one-on-one meeting, which lasted over half an hour. Both sides discussed various aspects of Siachen issue - world's highest battlefield - in an expansive and threadbare manner during the parleys, which were held in a friendly and cordial ambience, said the sources.
At the winding up of the 10th round of Indo-Pak talks on Siachen on Wednesday, which precedes the parleys on Sir Creek between the two sides on May 25-26, a joint statement is likely to be issued.
Later on Tuesday, Defence Secretary Tariq Ghazi called on India's National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee along with his Indian counterpart and other members of the delegation.
Pakistan High Commissioner to India Aziz Ahmad Khan, Deputy High Commissioner Afrasiab and Defence Advisor Brigadier Javed Sultan at Pak High Commission also attended parleys along with the 13-member delegation.
Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Shiv Shankar Menon, Joint Secretary (Pak Desk), External Affairs Ministry and other officials were also part of Indian delegation at the talks.
On his arrival last Monday, leader of Pak delegation and Defence Secretary Tariq Ghazi had said that dialogue process must move forward and all aspects of Siachen problem would be discussed at the two-day talks.
"We have come with a very positive mindset. My delegation is here with open mind and we will be looking at all the aspects of this problem", added Tariq Ghazi.
He also said, "We think this process must move forward", adding all concerned issues will be discussed during the parleys.
Indian Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt had stated on the occasion that the talks would be held in a friendly atmosphere and they will strive to ensure continuity of the Confidence Building process.
