The Sindh government on Thursday declared five towns as sensitive and deployed Army following the Nishtar Park carnage that left over 47 dead and over 100 injured, including some top leaders belonging to various religious organisations.

Sources said the step has been taken as a preventive measure to avert any untoward incident and assist the provincial administration in maintaining peace in the city. The five towns, which were declared sensitive, included Shah Faisal Town, New Karachi Town, Site Town, Baldia Town and Jamshed Town.

The Army troops in armoured personnel carrier (APC) patrolled various sensitive areas throughout the day to avert any untoward incident.
