A protest hunger strike was observed and sit-in staged by the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponm) here on Saturday against Kalabagh Dam and 'Balochistan Operation'.

The protest was joined by Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Jeay Sindh Mahaz (Zain Shah), Jeay Sindh Qaum Parast Party, Sindh Sagar Party, Jamiat Ulema Sindh and Sindh National Front.

The hunger strike was addressed by Dr Qadir Magsi, Zain Shah, Qamar Bhatti, Maulana Aziz Bohyo, Maulana Ubeduallh Bhutto and Gul Mohammed Jakhrani. Addressing the hunger striker, Dr Qadir Magsi, who is also president of Sindh Ponm, said whenever the dictators rule the country they introduce the policies aimed at destruction for oppressed nations. He accused them of occupying resources of the oppressed nations.

He said that a dictator butchered 2 million Bengalis and dismembered the country. General Ziaul Haq introduced Klashnikov and heroine culture and created terrorists who took cities under their control. He alleged that the current rulers had blocked water of Sindh.

He demanded shelving of Kalabagh dam project and stopping operation in Balochistan. He accused the rulers of sucking blood of smaller provinces.

He charged that the Baloch people were being targeted with gunship helicopters and warplanes to suppress their voice. He said the rulers had issued death warrants for oppressed nations of Sindhi, Balochi and Pushtoons. He said they were ready to undergo big sacrifice for sake of their rights.
