Addressing a meeting on Friday, he directed to take immediate measures for provision of better medical treatment to patients appearing at CDGK hospitals.
He deplored that no attention was paid in the past to the hospitals, which resulted in ruining of medical institutions and issued the instructions to computerise the record for all the medicines, to be procured. "The process right from the procurement of medicine to its delivery to the patient would be kept in record to ensure its proper utilisation", he added.
Mustafa Kamal has also formed a committee to supervise the procedure for procurement of medicines and to follow the prescribed rules in this regard. In order to ensure that these medicines were only provided to patients from city government's hospital free of cost, he said that colour and design of packets of these medicines should be different from the same selling in the market. The trademark of these medicines should also be different from the medicines being sold in the market to check theft and illegal sale of the same.
These medicines are being procured for Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sarfaraz Rafiqi Shaheed Hospital, Spencer Eye Hospital, Leprosy Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Gazarabad General Hospital, Gizri Maternity Hospital, Ex-Ray Clinic, hospitals of defunct DMCs and those hospitals of Sindh government merged in city government.
