The bomb blast at Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Hub Chowki Grid Station cut off power supply to Vinder, Uthal and Bella in Balochistan late Thursday night, a KESC spokesman said here on Friday.

Power supply was restored to the entire area at 2.20 am early this morning following immediate repairs. KESC Chief Engineer, Grid & Transmission Shabbir Khattak on receiving SOS from the switchboard operators at the grid immediately rushed a team of grid engineers and workers and informed the local police and security control of KESC.

The bomb targeted the 132 kV bay and 40 MVA auto-transformer but serious damage was not caused to any of the grid equipment due to thick protection wall. However, the outer wall was badly shattered by the explosion placed at the side of the wall. The safety protection system of the extra high-tension line caused the tripping of the 66KV Vindef circuit.
