The spokesman stated the Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology has been assigned "X" status and not "B" status.
He elaborated there are four categories of classification of those universities which fall below minimum requirements laid down by the cabinet for grant of charter. These are "W", "X", "Y" and "Z".
Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology is, therefore, still below minimum requirements, which make it eligible for grant of charter, he added.
It was decided by the cabinet in February 2002 that if these universities (including Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology) do not meet the minimum eligibility requirements for grant of charter then charters of such universities will stand withdrawn, he pointed out.
The Sarhad University of Science & Information Technology has shown some improvement as a result of this decision of the cabinet and it is hoped it will reach minimum requirements by February 2007, so that its students do not suffer as a result of withdrawal of its charter.
