Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) has awarded gold medals, certificates and cash awards to three scientists working at International Centre for Chemical Sciences (ICCS), University of Karachi in recognition of their outstanding research work in the field of chemistry.

According to an ICCS press release issued here Friday, Professor Dr Sheikh Arshad Saeed has received a gold medal and cash award on his contribution in the field of biochemistry. Dr Sabira Begum was conferred a gold medal and cash award on her achievements in the area of natural product chemistry while Dr Shazia Anjum has been selected for the award of Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) young scientist prize in chemistry.

The prize distribution ceremony was held last week at the general body meeting of PAS in Islamabad. Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Professor Atta-ur-Rahman and Acting Director of the ICCS Professor Dr M Iqbal Choudhry congratulated the three scientists of the ICCS on their significant achievements.
