Two labourers were killed, eight injured, three of them seriously, when a steam boiler exploded with a big bang in Nimra Textile Processing Mill at Khurrianwala-Jhumra Road (industrial area), here on Thursday morning.

According to details, 10 labourers were processing gray cloth in the mill, when a steam boiler exploded with a big bang in the Processing Unit due to unknown reason at about 5:15 am in third shift.

Jamal Din and Abdul Hanan were blown up in pieces and died on the spot while another eight labourers, Ashfaq Ahmad, Asghar, Fazal Elahi, Naeem Abbas and Salabat etc were seriously wounded and burnt.

Both dead bodies and all injured persons shifted to Allied Hospital Faisalabad, where three reported to be in serious condition.

Officers of Police and Labour Department inspected the place of incident and observed that the steam boiler was working in worst condition without proper maintenance and inspection.
