In the world markets, the dollar was higher against the leading currencies, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee did not show any variation versus the dollar for buying at 59.90 while it gained five paisa for selling at 59.95, dealers said.
Versus the euro, the rupee managed to gain five paisa for buying and selling at 70.70 and Rs 70.80, they added.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee failed to maintain upward trend, as it lost five-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Thursday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar's trading commenced at overnight closing rates of Rs 59.80 and Rs 59.90 on buying and selling counters, respectively. As a result of fresh buying, the dollar moved up and finally closed at Rs 59.85 and Rs 59.95 on buying and selling counters, respectively, the dealers added.
On the contrary, the local currency showed strength and improved its worth against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate declined from Rs 103.40 to Rs 102.50 while selling rate moved down from Rs 103.80 to Rs 103.00, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of dollar against the rupee remained unchanged at the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 59.95 (buying) and Rs 60.05 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change by the end of second session and closed at Rs 59.95 (buying) and Rs 60.05 (selling).
The pound sterling opened at Rs 102.60 (buying) and Rs 102.80 (selling) against last rate of Rs 103.50 (buying) and Rs 103.75 (selling). It did not show any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 102.60 (buying) and Rs 102.80 (selling).
