Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of "Wexnet 2005" organised jointly by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) standing committee on Women and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) here at Expo Centre on Wednesday, she assured businesswomen that she will take up the matter of giving loans to them on easy terms and condition in the cabinet.
The adviser also assured businesswomen that she would discuss issue of early allocation of 50-acre plot for 'women Entrepreneur City' with Sindh government.
Nelofar noted that the government has done a lot for women development and added that there was still lot to be done to bring them in streamline of economic activity. She pointed out that there are women working in air force, Motorway police and 17 percent seats have been reserved for women in assembles. "Woman has been appointed as governor of State Bank but still they are not happy."
The adviser said that the government alone can not do much for women development. It should be a joint effort of every one to bring them in mainstream of country's working, she added. She appreciated participation of 10 women from earthquake-hit areas in the exhibition and for displaying their products. The adviser also appreciated EPB on providing 100 percent participation expenses to these women.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Tariq Ikram urged the Sindh government to early allocate land for 'Women Entrepreneur City.' He said that EPB is ready to develop this city and provide best facility for women entrepreneurs. The EPB chairman noted that the number of women entrepreneurs participating in Wexnet increased from 14 to 140 in last 5 years.
Tariq Ikram suggested holding of world women entrepreneurs' conference in Pakistan to share each other's experiences.
Speaking next, President First Women Bank Zareen Aziz said that the bank is performing will and in the right direction. She said that the bank has developed several financial schemes, some of which have been launched, and some are in pipeline.
Welcoming the guests, FPCCI President Chaudhry Mohammad Saeed suggested that Women Entrepreneurs City be developed in every big city of the country. He emphasised the need of holding exhibitions of locally made products more frequently to boost trade and attract attention of foreign buyers.
