Delay in execution of a plan of running CNG buses in the city is irking the citizens of Peshawar city. A number of people, belonging to different sections of life, while expressing their annoyance over delay have demanded of the provincial government to immediately start the service.

Under the project, Urban Transport System', a contract would be awarded to a firm for plying about 30 CNG driven buses in Peshawar. These buses would ply on route number 2 of Peshawar which starts from General Bus Stand and end up in Karkhano market (Hayatabad) by passing through G.T road, Khyber road and Jamrud road.

The project, if proved successful, would be replicated in other districts of NWFP. Similarly, the service would also be introduced at other routes of Peshawar.

An official of Provincial Transport Department informed that the summary of the plan was submitted at CM Secretariat for the approval of the project.

The project had been approved and the service would kick off as soon as the contractor finalised arrangements, he added.
