Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) will observe Black Day by holding protest demonstration and taking out rallies on Friday against proposed deletion of procedure for offering prayers from textbooks, arrests and registration of fake cases against Ulema and to demand resignation of the federal education minister.

According to a JI spokesman, protest demonstrations will be addressed by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) MNAs, senators, MPAs and other leaders and people will be mobilised against anti-Islamic steps being taken by the present government. He said handbills and pamphlets would be distributed among people and they would be urged to support the campaign against government's efforts to secularise the country on US directives.

Meanwhile, Karachi JI Amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui has appealed Ulema and people to observe black day and condemn governmental efforts and directed JI and MMA activists to utilise all their energies to make the Black Day successful.
