Answering newsmen's questions on arrival at Sukkur airport on Thursday from Islamabad, the CJ SCP said the provincial governments had been asked to implement the Supreme Court's verdict in true spirit.
To a question that holding of Jirgas was still being reported from different areas in violation of Sindh High Court's verdict, the CJ said action could only be taken when sufficient evidence is provided to the High Court.
CJ said Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) was a permanent body of the judiciary to deal with cases of corruption in the ranks of higher judiciary. He said he was satisfied with the functioning of SJC.
The CJ said the number of judges in the Supreme Court and the High Courts had already been increased recently and expressed his satisfaction as regards the present strength of judges. He said the High Courts had already been advised to fill the vacant posts of judges in the lower judiciary to cope with the backlog of cases.
Earlier, on arrival, he was received by Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Acting Chief Election Commissioner, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Ameer Muslim Hani and Justice Zawar Hussain Jaffery, judges of Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan later left for Larkana where he will address the Sindh High Court Bar Association in connection with the annual ceremony of Sindh High Court Larkana Circuit Bench.
He will also attend a regional conference at Circuit House Larkana on Friday at 12.30 pm, besides, being chief guest at an award distribution ceremony arranged by district bar association, Larkana.
