A group of US-based Pakistani doctors comprised of Dr Abdul Rasheed Piracha, President of APPNA; Dr Rizwan Naeem, Director Cytogenetics, Texas Children Hospital Houston; Dr Syed Samad, President of Dow Graduates Association USA visited the National Institution of Child Health (NICH) on Wednesday.

They reviewed the progress of construction of the Cytogenetics Laboratory sponsored by the Child Aid Association in collaboration with the Department of Cytogenetics, Texas Children Hospital.

Funds for the construction of the building are provided from the Khushhal Pakistan Fund allocated by MNA Afsar Begum.

It is expected that the laboratory will be ready to function in June 2006, for which the APPNA has already contributed $27,000 for the purchase of equipment.

The group also visited Master Shafqat, a survivor of earthquake from Muzaffarabad area, now under treatment for Leukemia at the Oncology Unit, supported by the Child Aid Association.
