The President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Haroon Farooki, expressed gratitude to the Collector of Customs (Appraisement) for keeping in abeyance the operation of SRO 198(1)/2005 of February 28, 2005 envisaging penalty on consignments not accompanied by invoice and packing list.

This, he said while commenting on a news item pertaining to hardships identified by Customs Agents Group, following enforcement of the said SRO.

The KCCI chief said that it was agreed with the Collector that the modus operandi of applicability of the relevant customs rule, which was primarily meant for CARE, would be decided after a meeting of the representatives of the collectorate and stakeholders.

Haroon expressed hope that the decision of the collectorate would facilitate clearance of goods without further delay and remove the confusion prevailing among the relevant quarters.-PR
