Adviser to PM on Finance and Economic Affairs Dr Salman Shah held a meeting with WB Earthquake Recovery Credit (ERC) appraisal Mission here at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Finance, Omaar Ayub Khan, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Ms Hina Rabbani Khar and Lieutenant General Mohammad Zubair, Chairman ERRS, senior officials from Finance, EAD and representatives from NWFP and AJK governments also attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed progress of various components including housing, livelihood, capacity building, health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, financial management and disbursement.

The meeting appreciated the flexible approach of WB to shift resources from one component to other in case of need, according to a press release issued after the meeting here.

Dr Salman Shah desired that the losses of agriculture, livelihood in addition to housing should be taken into account. He further said that it is government's endeavour to make adequate arrangements and to ensure that funds reach up to the needy people.

The institutional arrangements need to be effective so that people are back on their feet as early as possible. The meeting was informed that until now Rs 16 billion have been given to the Provincial Governments of AJK and NWFP.

The Adviser informed the meeting that the government has decided to rebuild the damaged houses as well and will use all its resources including PPAF etc.
