US President George W. Bush expressed condolences to Jordan's King Abdullah on Thursday after suicide bombings killed 57 people in Amman and said the United States and its allies must remain firm in the war on terrorism.

"We have an obligation and a duty to remain strong, remain firm, and to bring these people to justice," Bush said.

"Today the world saw with horror the attacks on innocent people in Jordan by killers who defile a great religion," Bush told reporters at a White House meeting with Yemen's president, Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Bush said he told Abdullah of "our nation's deep concern and compassion for those who lost their lives and their families."
