According to an official spokesman here on Thursday, the conference was being organised in collaboration with International Trade Center, United Nations Development Programme and Export Promotion Bureau.
Among the different services sectors of interest to Pakistan, the following have been identified for the purposes of the Conference: banking services, accountancy and auditing services, educational services, legal services, construction and related engineering services, information technology services, tourism services, transportation services and health services.
The Gats was one of the World Trade Organisation's most significant agreements that provide a framework for the regulation of trade in services among the WTO member countries.
Pakistan as a WTO member could expect to benefit from the more open trading regime under the Gats. It was imperative to enable the stakeholders to meet the challenges of the multilateral trading system.
