PML-N Central Secretary Finance and MNA Muhammad Pervaiz Malik expressed these views while addressing a meeting to review PML-N relief programme at the earthquake-affected areas of Azad Kashmir on Thursday.
He said the West preferred to send its forces instead of contributing to the UN Fund for immediate assistance of dollars 550 million for rescue and relief operation.
"There was no need of any alien army, particularly, when the Pakistan Army was already working well in the affected areas. What was needed to build airlift of relief like Tsunami affected areas but unfortunately only dollars 130 million were given to the UN's demand for initial assistance of dollars 550 million. The contribution of poor people of Pakistan was more than the foreign assistance," he added.
According to him, the acute winter has since started and deaths due to severe cold and diseases were taking place in a large number, which could outnumber the deaths caused by the earthquake in next few weeks, but the world was apathetic.
Pervaiz Malik expressed his sorrow that in spite of becoming frontline state in war against terrorism, Pakistan was alone in the world community and this was evident from the fact that the West did nothing substantial at the time of hardship and devastation on Pakistan.
