Pakistan Herald Publications (Pvt) Ltd, the owners of the daily English language newspaper Dawn, and its Chief Executive Hameed Haroon have filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court against the province of Sindh, alleging that without assigning any reason whatsoever, the Sindh government has stopped all government advertisements in Dawn since June 2005.

The petition was fixed in the High Court on Thursday for Katcha Peshi and was taken up by a Division Bench comprising Justices Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Mrs Yasmin Abbasey. The learned Division Bench was pleased to call for the comments of the province of Sindh to be filed within two weeks. The petition will again come up for hearing on November 30.-PR
