"You reckon the world has not been as generous to our earthquake victims as was needed?"

"Precisely, but we shouldn't take it personally, I mean it's not as if the tsunami victims got all that was pledged."

"True, but the pledges were a lot higher than what has been pledged for our quake victims if you know what I mean. Besides that's not what I was referring to. I meant that with the President's support for Bush's war on terror one would have assumed that the US at least would have been more generous."

"They have deployed their armed forces and are assisting..."

"The Maulanas don't want US soldiers on our soil."

"The Maulanas must understand that we have our own armed forces deployed as well, forces that are the best prepared to reach inaccessible areas. Besides the US soldiers were easy to deploy as they were in Afghanistan already and, let's be honest, it's not as if we have too many state secrets from the Americans."

"You reckon Musharraf has told them everything..."

"Don't be naïve - they have the satellites to know precisely what we are doing and where."

"Ah yes, modern technology."

"And don't forget the Americans have been upping the assistance kitty as and when new figures of the scale of the devastation are revealed."

"The Poodle gave too little at first also. It was his own people who were aghast at the small amount he originally gave."

"Well, in this at least he seems to have listened to his own people."

"That man is not there for long."

"Well, if he was in Pakistan he would have declared martial law, suspended the constitution and then amended it as he desired it to be amended."

"Point taken."

"And what was the point I was making?"

"Democracy is preferable to all forms of government - and even if you have a dictator of sorts for a few years in a democracy he or she will have to go if the party or the people kick him out."

"Indeed."
