Rahimyar Khan District stood tall among others in dispatching relief goods to the quake-hit areas as on Wednesday District Commissioner Officer (DCO), Sheikh Hamid Nawaz, confirmed handing over of 141 truckload of relief goods to the concerned army personnel.

Talking to Business Recorder on telephone from Rahimyar Khan, Rahimyar Khan DCO said he has mobilised the people of the district in contributing generously for the affected people and his efforts got overwhelming response from the residents.

He said, "I have been personally going door-to-door to get maximum support for the quake victims who were badly in need of stuff to fight out harsh winter."

Sheikh Hamid Nawaz made untiring efforts to get maximum goods and funds for the survivors, and showed unflinching determination to strive for the noble cause.

The DCO said that he will continue to give help call to the people of Rahimyar Khan as long as the people in affected areas need assistance.

He was fully supported in the effort by the representatives of the local government. Tehsil Nazim Mian Ejaz Ahmed accompanied the DCO all the time in collecting relief goods from the people and handing it over to the authorised persons for fair distribution.

Ejaz said, "As Tehsil Nazim it was my duty to knock every door of the Tehsil to get relief goods and funds for our brothers and sisters in distress."

He maintained that Rahimyar Khan will keep its leading role in this noble cause and keep on dispatching the required goods as long as needed.

It may be noted that soon after the devastating earthquake of October 8, the government had directed all the DCOs to immediately launch campaign in their respective districts and collect maximum relief goods.
