Talking to ambassador of Ukraine Dr Ilhor Polikha who called on him here at Prime Minister House, Shaukat Aziz said detailed programmes are being chalked out for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of quake affected areas.
The Prime Minister said although Pakistan is facing a big challenge as a result of the earthquake, the government is determined to change the adversity into an opportunity.
Sergiy Guriev, Chief Surgeon Ukrainian mobile hospital working in Besham, was also present on the occasion.
The ambassador briefed the Prime Minister about the support provided by Ukraine for the quake affected areas.
Dr Ilhor Polikha informed the Prime Minster that volume aid from Ukraine to the quake survivors is biggest volume of humanitarian assistance ever rendered by Ukraine to any foreign country.
He said Ukraine has delivered aid over 3 million US dollars while dollars 120,000 were donated to Pakistan by the Ukrainian prominent businessman via Pakistani Embassy in Ukraine.
Dr Ilhor said among the directly donated relief aid Ukraine deployed a mobile hospital in Besham, NWFP and since October 18. It has been working in severe conditions and providing treatment to the injured.
Ukrainian doctors have already given first aid and medical care to more than 10,493 patients, injured in the earthquake. Out of 460 persons who were hospitalised, 126 were operated. Seven women gave birth to children at the Ukrainian hospital.
Two Ukrainian aircraft (including the biggest plane in the world AN-225 "MRIYA") landed in Pakistan carrying consignments of humanitarian aid.
The total weight of the delivered aid includes tents, more than 40,000 blankets, medicine, baby food and tinned products etc which was about 250 tons.
