In some cases, it may affect hearing and a loss of sensation of taste may also occur if the condition is not treated.
I can recall that a few months back a man of about thirty years from Azad Kashmir has Bell's Palsy for two years. At home, he was treated through Cortisone but with no benefit. Ultimately he came to our OPD in Baqai University.
On examination, it was found that he could neither close his left eye nor frown on his left side.
He was to begin with treated Vitamin B12 injection (cynocobalamin) on alternate days with electrical stimulation in physiotherapy for two months.
The treatment worked and in a month's time he could close his left eye and also frown on that side.
Totally, it took some three months' time before he was fully recovered and returned to his native home in Azad Kashmir.
The role of concentrated Vitamin B12 and electric stimulation proved effective to treat his complaint. The treatment was not very expensive either.
