Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Sunday inaugurated a 10-million gallons per day water desalination plant (reverse osmosis plant) at Chalihar, Mithi district, installed under the Prime Minister Thar Package Plan, the CM House spokesman said on Monday.

On the occasion the chief minister said that under the PM's package more such plants would be installed, road network would be laid to connect villages and electricity would be provided to the farthest village in Thar.

He said that the government was committed to its promises made during national, provincial and local body elections.

He said that road network and potable water arrangement were on priority list of the government. Once these basic necessities had been provided there would be more spending on the creation of education and health facilities in the district.

The chief minister instructed the director general public health engineering department to plan drainage system for Chiliar.

He said that people should consider expansion in the animal husbandry scheme so that population of animals could be increased.

He said that the government would provide backup support to farmers interested in rearing animals on scientific lines.

Rahim said that dairy farming was suited to Thar condition.

MILK PLANTS: With the increase in population of milch cows the possibilities of setting up milk plants could be considered. In addition, good quality goat, sheep and cow farming are the areas that the local population should look into. He directed the works department to construct a dual carriage road connecting Wichoro with Chachro. The chief minister outlined his programme for opening more schools and upgrading the existing schools from lower secondary to higher secondary to colleges for men and women.

He said setting health care units with MCH ( mother and child health) facilities would follow this programme.
