Presently, he is performing the duties of Chief of Staff at Naval Headquarters.
Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon joined Pakistan Navy on May 11, 1967. Subsequent to successful completion of 3-1/2 years training, the Flag Officer was commissioned on December 1, 1970.
He saw action in erstwhile East Pakistan and later at sea in the west during the 71 War. He joined the Submarine Service in 1972 and went on to Command the Submarine Squadron. He has the distinction of commanding three submarines and a destroyer.
The officer is a graduate of US Naval Staff College Rhode Island and Armed Forces War Course from National Defence College. His major staff appointments include Commander Ops & Sea Training to Commander Submarines (COMSUBS), DS war Wing (NDC), Naval Attache at New Delhi (INDIA), Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans) at Naval Headquarters, DG Training at Joint Staff Headquarters, Commander Karachi and Commander Pakistan Fleet.
In recognition to his services, the Admiral was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Basalat.-PR
