Addressing to a press conference at his residence here, Sultan Mahmood said he would soon visit United States, Canada, UK and some European countries to meet expatriate Kashmiris and government officials.
Welcoming Pakistan and India's decision to open Line of Control (LoC) at five points, he urged Indian Leadership to open Line of Control completely enabling Kashmiris living across the divide to assist each other in the wake of devastating earthquake. "All Kashmiri on both sides of valley want to help each other in time of need and should be given this opportunity," he added.
About relief operation going on in Azad Kashmir, he stressed to further speed up relief activities before chilly winter sets in. Sultan Mahmood suggested that shelters with roof made of tin should be provided to the quake affected people to protect them from severe weather conditions. He said tin sheets and cash should be given to the affected people to construct temporary shelters before their complete rehabilitation.
"I have sent the proposal to the Federal Relief Commissioner Major General Farooq Khan and head of National Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority Lieutenant General Muhammad Zubair," he added.
Sultan Mehmood said Pakistan Steel Mills Chairman General Abdul Qayyum (Retd) had assured him of supplying tin sheets for the construction of temporary houses.
He said supply of food items and medicines should be enhanced for people living in remote areas.
He asked NGOs and volunteer organisations to help government in its reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.
