The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have agreed, in principle, to allow opening of two branches of commercial banks of the two countries on reciprocal basis.

SBP and RBI would mutually agree upon the selection of the banks that would be allowed to open branches in the two countries. The permission to open the branch would depend on the regulatory policies and procedures practised by the commercial banks. SBP and RBI would also decide the licensing of more branches after considering their policy and the licensing norms applicable to the foreign banks from time to time.
