The nation celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday with full sobriety and simplicity in view of the colossal devastation caused by October 8, horrible earthquake.

At all the Eid congregations, prayers were offered for the deliverance of those who died in the tragedy and for recovery of the injured and rehabilitation of the victims.

The President General Pervez Musharraf offered Eid prayers at the army stadium in Rawalpindi. People belonging to various walks of life also offered the prayers there. On this occasion, prayers were offered for the departed souls and for mitigation of the pains and sufferings of the injured and other victims.

Later, the president exchanged Eid greetings with the people.

Eid congregations were held in various parts of the Rawalpindi city where faithful bow before Allah and offered thanks giving prayers for commencement of Holy month of Ramazan and sought blessing of Allah for them and country.

Special prays were offered for the victims of the October 8, devastating earthquake which left about 100,000 people dead, about 150,000 injured besides making about 4 million people homeless.
