The price of Burundi's coffee fell on Wednesday due to modest demand and a weaker New York market, officials at the coffee board said.

"New York dropped 6 cents this week compared to last week, and this affected prices," Jean Baptiste Manirakiza, an official at the Burundi Coffee Board, told Reuters.

"The price for all grades sold this week went down compared to last week," he said. "The demand was also low, on a total of 14 lots offered, only 9 were sold".

The Board expects to sell the 5 remaining lots on Thursday.

The Board said it sold grade AA at an average price of $126.66 per 60-kg bag compared with last week's price of $133.20.

Grade A was sold $123.76 per bag compared with last week' s $130.90.

Grade TT was sold $115.12 against $122.20 last week

A total of 2,700 bags were sold this week compared to 4,500 bags sold last week.
