Like other parts of the country, the people of Karachi will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour on Friday. However, in view of the devastating earthquake of October 8, the festival would be celebrated across the country in a simple manner.

In Karachi, Eid prayers will be offered at more than 1,000 Eidgahs, mosques, Imambargahs, parks and open places.

Karachi City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the town and union council administrations to ensure cleanliness around Eidgahs, mosques, Imambargahs on the occasion.

The main Eid congregation in the metropolis will be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah where Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, will also offer Eid prayers along with the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.

Ibad and Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim have appealed to the people to celebrate Eid in a simple manner. The official functions of Eid have been cancelled and there would be no Eid Milan parties at official level.

Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to collect donations and relief goods for the earthquake victims.

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has dispatched two more trucks load of tents and blankets for the earthquake victims.
