Necessary tests were recently conducted which confirmed presence of both oil and gas in the area, sources said, adding that Well-17, when commissioned, will be producing 1,500 barrel per day oil and about 5 MMCF gas per day. Now the work is on to commission the well and put it into regular production on top priority basis, they said.
Sources said the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has hired a contractor for laying main gas feeder-line from the Well to the plant for commissioning and getting regular production on daily basis.
They said that they could not ascertain the date of commissioning of the well at present, but the work was in progress, and it was their endeavour to complete the process and put the well into production as early as possible.
The drilling at Well-17, Adhi Field, was commenced early this year and the contract for drilling of this well in Kheora formations was awarded to Chinese firm, Greatwall Drilling Company (GDC), which had already done the similar work at Wells-13, 14, 15 and 16 at Adhi Field.
To carry out pre-drilling civil work, the PPL had awarded Rs 17 million contract to Islamabad-based firm, the Standard Well Corporation (SWC), sources said, adding that Adhi Field, which is located in the districts of Rawalpindi and Chakwal, is operated by the PPL with majority stakeholding, while the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and the Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) are the other joint venture partners.
They also said that PPL hopes about new discoveries, especially of oil from Adhi Field are very high, therefore, it is developing the Adhi Field on top priority basis.
