The Aga Khan Development Network, through its agency Focus Humanitarian Assistance (Focus), has enhanced its supply of relief goods and has been made a part of the Army Relief Cell.

Agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network has also provided medical assistance at camps set up in the affected areas, said a statement here on Wednesday.

It further said that on behalf of the French government, the Aga Khan Development Network had supplied 16 generators to the Pakistan Army.

The generators would be delivered to the hospital camps that are being set up in Azad Kashmir.

On the four helicopters provided by the Aga Khan Development Network, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and his entourage, accompanied by Makhdoom Syed Faisal Hayat, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Dr Salman Shah, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs and Statistics, travelled to survey the area of Muzaffarabad and other sites of the affected region.

"Our team is working closely with the Pakistan Army and the international disaster management teams to facilitate in transferring the relief goods to the earthquake victims", said Karim Nayani, Focus Chief Executive Officer.

On their return journeys to Islamabad, the Aga Khan Development Network helicopters are carrying survivors who require urgent medical assistance, he said.

CEO said that the Aga Khan Health Service teams treated and managed approximately 5000 patients with a variety of heath problems, with 27 percent (1248) children being under the age of five.

The Aga Khan Health Service Pakistan plans to support the government to establish four health centers in AJK and NWFP with financial and technical assistance from Unicef, he added.
