Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Standing Committee on Dry Ports Chairman Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has welcomed the statement of federal Railways Minister Shamim Haider about establishment of new dry ports on modern lines in the country.

In a press release issued here on Tuesday, Zia Sarhadi demanded of the government to also renovate and modernise Peshawar Dry Port, which is operating on temporary basis for the last 20 years.

He said Peshawar has only one dry port, which is operating for the entire province and it should be upgraded on modern lines.

The Peshawar Dry Port, Zia said, is contributing millions of rupees to the national exchequer, but the concerned authorities were not concentrating over its improvement.-PR
