Federal Minister for Environment, Major Tahir Iqbal (Retd) visited the relief camps set-up at the National Institute of Special Children and Sports Complex to review the working of the camps and to inquire about the condition of injured admitted there.

He expressed satisfaction over the facilities being provided to the patients and their attendants and specially appreciated the cleanliness and hygienic conditions of the camp. He said that healthy and hygienic environment would accelerate the healing and recovery process of the injured and would limit the chances of secondary infections.

He sympathised with the earthquake victims and listened to their problems. He admired their resilience and fighting spirit and assured them, that the entire national shares their grief and miseries.

Some of the injured at the camps complained that they have not yet received the relief cheques of ten thousand each being given by the government, the minister assured them that he would arrange for the delivery of cheques on immediate basis. The minister said that the government is making all the efforts to provide the victims with best medical care and other necessities. He also distributed the Eid Gifts among the children. He informed that three to four more relief camps would soon be established in the out skirt of Islamabad for the quake victims, and Ministry of Environment will also set-up a camp at the premises of the Botanical Garden in Barakahu.
